Thread '3Dio FS XLR (ASMR Approved) / FS Pro II'
The main difference between the 3Dio FS XLR and FS Pro II is the microphone capsules used. Funnily enough, the cheaper capsules in the 3Dio FS XLR which are called Primo EM172 have lower self noise and a good enough frequency response for ASMR. It's the better option by far: There is no need to get the FS Pro II with its much more expensive small microphone DPA 4060 CORE hi-sensitivity capsules: The responses compared look like the following: Since these microphones are used for ASMR...
Thread 'Logitech Blue Yeti (Budget ASMR)'
The Logitech Blue Yeti is one of the most popular microphones to get on the market for YouTube and especially ASMR. You can make a living off of this microphone if done right. I find that the 2kHz dip significantly colors the sound for spoken word. The bass and treble roll off in my opinion is less of an issue. The 2kHz scoop is the main factor I have for upgrading from it. I've noticed that whispering negates some of the coloration problems as well as using it for sound effects. It's really...
Thread 'Rode NT1-A / NT1 4th Gen (Approved) / 5th Gen Signature Series (Approved)'
Rode NT1 4th Gen and 5th Gen sound different. Rode claims they don't but they do. The Rode NT1 4th Gen was legendary outperforming pretty much all other budget condenser microphones with its flat neutral transparent sound with very little coloration. It was considered even better than the Shure SM7b which is a dynamic microphone that out performs most budget condenser microphones. The 5th Gen noticeably has a brighter, more piercing treble, which has a much more fatiguing top end and is...
Thread 'Bose SoundLink Flex Portable Bluetooth Speaker (2nd Gen)'
The Bose SoundLink Flex Portable Bluetooth Speaker (2nd Gen) are very good for $99 to $150 portable speakers. When on the go, perfect sound is not required so these get more than close enough to sound transparent and studio quality on the go! Looking at the response compared to studio monitors, we can see just how close they come, especially up against DSP: Obviously due to their small size they will lack sub bass and wont be able to fill a large room with sound: These are intended for...
Thread 'sE Electronics V7 (Endgame) / V7X / V7 MK (Endgame) Analysis'
the sE Electronics V7 is a very nice vocal singing stage mic. It is very sensitive so with a good preamp there won't be any audible preamp hiss which is really nice. The only problem with this microphone is it's for singing. NOT spoken word. It has the same tuning as a Neuman M147 Tube microphone which is great. It sounds so clear and detailed without any nasally tonality that's on a lot of dynamic mics. This thing really changes my mind about dynamic microphones. Neodymium being used...
Thread 'Simgot EM6L (Endgame) / EA500 LM / EA1000'
The Simgot EM6L are quite frankly the best thing I've ever heard. They have some of the smoothest treble of any IEM regardless of price and are tuned extremely well for a fun, dynamic, V-shaped sound. The Simgot EM6L has a few advantages over the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 Ohm. For one, it has more sub bass, smoother treble, and it isolates the sound. Although the Simgot EM6L lacks some musical sparkle in the highs, it has a more polished sound as if you were in a somewhat dampened room...
Thread 'Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus / FE / Buds Pro (Endgame) / Buds2 Pro'
I decided to use different measurements for the Samsung earbuds and review a few more of them. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus have been hyped for a while as the best Samsung earbuds mainly because their measurements align with the Harman Target. This is bad for a number of reasons. Namely, the Harman Target is shouty at 5kHz and rolls off the treble making it sound dark and veiled. I owned these originally and got rid of them after 2 days because of the shouty upper mids and dark treble. Just...
Thread 'ThieAudio Hype 2 (Endgame) / Hype 4 / Hype 10 / Monarch MKIII'
The ThieAudio Hype 2 (Endgame) / Hype 4 / Hype 10 / Monarch MKIII all sound about the same but at different price points. I only own the Hype 2 and yes the 5kHz peak is audible but only mildly fatiguing at first if it's audible to you. It's tolerable without distraction. There's also a cut and peak in high treble and air preventing it form sounding smooth in the highs. There's some bite in the air due to peaks causing a tad bit of harsh sibilance. The Hype 4 has a similar response to Hype 2...
Thread 'EPZ P40 Analysis (Endgame)'
We are getting to a point where Chinese IEMs are reaching perfection. Near perfect tunings and near perfectly smooth treble responses. At this point price, fit, and gimmicks may be the last things to care about. This EPZ P40 Is amazing. I am personally interested in open back design IEMs. As you can see I am rambling because there's not much to say. Another endgame IEM out of china. This one is like 150 which is fine. There is cheaper of course. But if you like the upgraded cable and shape...
Thread 'Qudelix-5K Bluetooth USB DAC AMP with LDAC'
Qudelix-5K is insane! You can now use any wired headphone or wired iem wirelessly. It also offers tons of setting and even EQ to fine tune your sound!
Thread 'Endgame Target - Renamed To HiFiEndgame MKII Target'
CLICK HERE FOR LATEST VERSION! This website uses a target named the Endgame Target. Why is it called endgame? Well because a lot of people in the audio hobby claim to want to find the best headphone, IEM, or microphone and move on with their life. What usually happens is they buy more and more audio equipment having no idea what they're doing or how to stop. They end up wasting tons of money buying things based on hype and word of mouth rather than having any form of critical thinking skills...
Thread 'Motu M2 (Endgame)'
The Motu M2 has a very transparent microphone and headphone input/output. -129 dBu EIN on mic inputs is not the quietest self noise you can get but it doesn't get much quieter and for sensitive condenser microphones you should never have a probablem.
Thread 'Streaming Camera Setup (Endgame)'
The Sony Alpha a6400 Mirrorless Camera has amazing color science, autofocus, low light performance, etc. It just looks good as long as it has a good lens. With camera technology the way it is I'm sure there's equally good cameras or better that have more recently come out. I recommend the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E to go along with it. It has amazing low light performance and will give you a better image without problem when compared to a cheap Sony stock lens. Keep...
Thread 'Neumann KH 120 MKII (Endgame)'
The Neumann KH 120 MKII are truly endgame. They are flawlessly flat and transparent with no tonality defects. Like most studio monitors, their woofer is not strong enough to reproduce sub bass without a subwoofer. This is why open back dynamic driver headphones are just as good if tuned properly. They don't need the sub bass to sound like amazing studio monitors. third party measurements agree. Super neutral and smooth response for a flawless studio monitor sound:
Thread 'Neumann U 87 Ai / TLM 67 / TLM 103 (Endgame)'
The Neumann U 87 Ai and TLM 67 sound very similar except the TLM 67 sounds flatter in the treble and therefore less nasally. The Neumann U 87 Ai is brighter and more articulate as shown on the frequency response which some people may like and find pleasing. The TLM 67 sounds a little more neutral and less nasally. I rarely look at third party measurements but I may start doing it in some cases. Although I think they're both cool. I prefer The Bright more open clear tonality of the Neumann...
Thread 'Beyerdynamic DT770 / DT880 / DT990 (Endgame) / Pro 250 Ohm'
The Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 Ohm are truly an endgame headphone. It is enjoyed by so many studio professionals, gamers, and music enjoyers. It's bright, clear, sparkly, diffuse field level treble is perfect for critical listening applications. It's ultra smooth V-Shaped response gives insanely transparent audio quality that translates and images extremely similarly to high quality studio monitors. Check out THIS DIY Tutorial on how to dampen brand new DT990. Don't let the haters lie...
