Alright so i want to aplogize for spamming the forums and i would delete the old posts if i could. But i feel that i have to produce results regardless for my efforts.
On that topic - I have done a lot more critical listening and i can confirm that mud cuts just always sound bad and make everything thin and lifeless.
also the eargain needs to taper off in a smooth way or else the aural picture will feel weird. I can literally hear the hump at 2-3k pushing forward more than the lower treble and it doesnt sound natural to me on headphones. Maybe for real world listening but thats partially irrelevant to what sounds natural with speakers against your ears.
As such the new target starts again from scratch and adjusts treble towards peqdb levels while retaining the diffuse field dips and mids now taper downwards into the eargain rather than tapering upwards.
Edit: hilariously, this lines up excellently with the simgot em6l. No wonder it is recommended.
Edit2: and although I have no concrete proof of this. Eq should be customized on a per headphone basis. Sometimes peqdb auto eq will ether make the negative preamp too aggressive or the treble will be too rolled off. Manual correction is needed in most cases for the best results.
In the case of the sony mdr7506, i am not sure if it better to adjust the eargain and lower treble reigon at all. Rather simply adjusting the lower mids, bass and upper treble yields the best results. Sounding more full and rich, rather than altering its very very clear upper midrange.
