Oratory1990 doesn't have this on github so weird. lots of measurements at a glance tho shows problems. lots of problems, lol. May not review this.

Could you review the Roswell microphones? The brand was recommended to me by a plugin developer who runs the YouTube channel AirWindows.

Pretty sure that brand is from microphone parts / recordinghacks.com guy. Bunch of Chinese crap. I've looked at them before. I'll look at it again but I prefer big established companies over small enthusiast brands.

I'm considering purchasing the Delphos II, which was recommended by the company's owner during an email exchange. I mentioned that I was looking for a microphone to record my singing voice (I'm male) and that I had already tried the Shure SM7B and the Rode NT1 5th Gen. He responded by saying that while the Shure was acceptable, he found the Rode to be excessively bright and sibilant in his own testing, even noting a 2dB difference in treble between two units. Additionally, do his microphones use the same capsule as Neumann microphones? I believe I heard that mentioned in an interview.

This video offers an intriguing comparison of various Roswell microphones used on different guitar instruments. Although I wish the comparison had focused on vocals, the content is still fascinating. One particularly interesting aspect is the stark contrast between the Aztec, which is their tube microphone, and the other models. This difference is especially evident in the segment around 13:25, where the microphones are used on an amplifier. The level of detail the Aztec captures is remarkable; it creates an immersive, deep, and detailed sound, unlike the others, which come across as much more two-dimensional. Of course, the Aztec costs between three and eight times as much as the other microphones the company offers.

This is the Delphos II advertised frequency response. It has a 3kHz lump and narrow cut at 5kHz. this would add coloration and have a less than smooth upper mids response. Without even listening to it this would be a disqualifier for me personally. NT1 4th Gen was better than 5th Gen. 5th Gen seems to have a brighter more colored top end. The 4th Gen wasn't perfect either but it was better.

@HiFiASMR

Doesn't the frequency response of the Delphos II microphone look quite similar to the Neumann U47 in your database? Both seem to have that characteristic boost around 3 kHz, a dip between 5 and 6 kHz, and another boost in the 9 to 10 kHz range. As mentioned, I want to use it for recording myself singing.

Yes that's true. The 3kHz lump makes it tuned a little towards the U47. However, I don't even like the sound of the modern Neumann M147 Tube for vocals because the 7khz dip is too extreme. 5kHz is not the proper spot. You can't just say well it kinda sorta looks like it so must be good enough.

The way you describe the sound is a bit concerning. A lot of people can't hear the frequency response of microphones very well if at all. This is usually due to lack of years and years of experiencing recording or just some people never can perceive it. At the end of the day it comes down to what sounds good to you and being happy with what you're using. Most people TBH don't know what they want and can't even hear it. Some people are satisfied with bad sounding gear. Some people buy tons of gear out of incompetent frustration. I can tell pretty quickly just by listening to something if I like it or not and if it's optimum or going to just be a fatiguing annoyance every time I use it. It all depends on the person.

I suppose I'll have to purchase it and test it out myself. After all, certain characteristics of my voice may be flattering with some microphones and less so with others.

Regarding the comparison video, I don't believe the level of detail in the Aztec microphone is solely related to its frequency response. When listening to the video, there are subtle differences among the microphones, sure, such as some exhibiting increased treble and others emphasizing the mid-range. However, the Aztec microphone displays a distinctive depth that becomes particularly noticeable during the amplifier testing section. If you skip to the segment at 13:25, you can hear the significant difference I'm referring to—there's a lot more audio information present. It almost sounds as though the polar pattern was altered, although the video’s author mentioned in the comments that all microphones were tested in cardioid mode.
