The Knowles Curve is some stupid target someone made because they felt the overly glamorized Harman Target was veiled and rolled off too much in the treble. A common meme or joke by people who like dark treble is that any brighter treble than Harman is for people with hearing loss rather than just a "preference"... Other edgy research papers also concluded that overly bass boosted targets are for aggressive males who were in contact with cat pee and have a disposition to road rage and speed on the highway. These types of pseudo research papers trying to justify their arguments for liking something different are pathetic.

Looking at the target from diffuse field reveals very strange problems with the Knowles Curve. 5kHz shout, a 15kHz peak, and of course the Harman Target thin mid bass:
